LMFM’s Betty Clarke recently interviewed a man who’s mission in life is to turn singles into couples. ….’I just haven’t met you yet’…. “Matchmaking, for all its old fashioned and traditional values happens to be the new pub culture” says David Merren, owner of One2One Introductions. “It’s last year’s little black number and it’s this years fidget spinner. “Already we see people being much more open and brave about declaring that they met through a dating service, so gone are the days when a couple who had met through us would tell everyone they met in a Pub!” “This is 2017…not 1917… the days of dowries and selling off your first born for a heifer and a couple of acres are happily consigned to history- These days it’s a Porsche and a Leinster season ticket”! “Our clients (and by the way we don’t have many clients because if we did

Online dating and dating apps are designed to give zillions of singles the chance to find dates on their own terms. It’s instant gratification for the “I want it and I want it now “generation. The swipe attitude sums up today’s busy, Iphone attached at the lip generation singles who want to find someone, anyone, a partner, a lover, a soul mate so long as it’s this instant! However, despite the phenomenon of online dating which is used by almost 60% of singles, it’s actually, quite bizarrely, helping and encouraging the growth of one sector: Matchmakers! Why? My own view(well, I am a Matchmaker) is that because a lot of singletons are becoming totally disillusioned by computer algorithms –It’s a real case of “from Algorhythms to zero confidence in 3 dates” for some and it replaces human judgment, with many suffering from dating overload. It’s the kid in a sweetshop

In today’s social media driven mad world of Online Dating sites , ONE2ONE INTRODUCTIONS stand out from the crowd. Why? Because we’re NOT an online dating site! Now read on…. Dating is supposed to be fun – meeting new people, going to exciting places, that spark, that frisson of where things just might lead to…However, reality bites bitterly. After the initial first bloom of hope and expectation  you believe these apps resemble a sweet shop-Wow..’are all these for me’…sadly reality bites. This isn’t exactly ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ and soon you’re believing  you’re working in a sweat shop; traumatic, time consuming and getting nothing out of it! Online dating sites and apps  are full of an never ending algorithm of babbled dialogue with mono syllabic replies fed by the genuine, the lonesome, the cheating and the gullible who trawl through a sea of profiles (coz there’s plenty of fish out there)

Nostalgia ain’t what it used to be!

Why is it so hard to meet someone these days? Finding someone in the Seventies, Eighties and Nineties just wasn’t a problem. You could meet someone in the supermarket because it was a relaxed place to bump into and maybe flirt (now there’s a lost art!) AND without fear of the PC Police over the freshly baked bread cheekily utter “Don’t squeeze me til I’m yours” Gallantry ruled and real men opened doors and ladies actually replied with a Thank you! If it rained (which was a constant) you’d offer to share your umbrella. Bus stops were where the action was and love stories began (or was that Zhivagos?) You could talk without loudspeakers in pubs to other people without googling them! In those fast moving days we enjoyed a mad thing called… reality! You went to discos and niteclubs to meet someone. You asked a girl out by walking

Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.

In old Irelands dark past when men were men and sheep were nervous a matchmaker made introductions not so much between marriageable men and women, but between their two families or clans. They negotiated the complicated deals that traded land and dowries against beauty and skills…and we’re not just talking cattle here. Nowadays, the process is just a tad different. Life, as we now know has changed somewhat since those ” heady, herdy, spit on your palm, fine girl you are, let’s watch Gaybo on the Late Late(sadly not everything’s changed for the better obviously!)” match-making days of the past. Today we want excitement, commitment, love, passion …and that’s only from a Pizza!! But how do we find someone special in today’s hyper paced “I want it all and I want it now” world of instant gratification. The answer to life as we know it is………  ONE2ONE Introductions! We can help you

Why are we different to other dating sites?

4 years ago 0 694

We’re different. Because We’re not an internet dating site. We meet you face to face At a time that suits you At a place that’s near you We’re different Because We actually care about getting you introductions based on quality not quantity. Genuine , like for like introductions That match your match, Introductions that you actually may have something in common with. We’re different because We’re friendly, professional, discreet and confidential. We create a personal comprehensive, private profile that includes a PHOTO!! We’re different because We get results, couples meet and they have relationships. We’re small We don’t have hundreds of people on our books (we really wouldn’t be doing a good job if we had) We’re different because you’re different! www.one2one.ie

So how are those resolutions going????

For a single girl or guy there’s no lonelier place than a nite club after midnight on New Year’s Day. You’ve done the 10, 9, and 8 countdown and cometh the hour, cometh the hugs and kisses. Suddenly Queen’s “Find me somebody to love” bellows and you’re all alone, again! “I’m never doing this again! It was the same last year. I’m getting too old for this. Why am I here?” New Year. New Me!  When was the last time you said that?  Last year probably. While many will resort to New Year’s resolutions  involving exercise or  good intentions, for singletons, their focus, at least in regards to resolutions, may be on how to find that someone in 2016. Being single just means you haven’t found the right person yet. That’s all! Remember, its Disney’s fault that girls want the perfect guy and its Playboy’s fault that guys want the perfect
