Last week BBC2 aired a documentary on Online scamming. If anyone watched it they would have seen a story of a man who scammed a dozen women out of more than £100,000 in a series of what officers described as “internet dating and romance schemes.”i.e. internet dating scams! Yes, those very online dating sites that you subscribe to in dear ol Ireland? No! Say it ain’t so?.. surely that could never happen here!…but it does! Believe me.

So, apart from the financial woes of being scammed, your emotional wellbeing won’t be altogether healthy either and is at risk if your emale or online beau is dishonest about their relationship status. There is no telling who is on the other end of that connection when you are online. Can you tell the difference between Arthur and Martha online? A Guardian article recently discovered that around one third of men using online dating sites in the U.K. are married (the number of married women online is still up for debate!) It must be really difficult to verify the relationship status of – married men and women online.” Excuse me sir, are you single?-Of course I’m single-but don’t tell the wife that” Many adulterers do not disclose to their new partners that they are already married, which means their victims are unknowingly manipulated by someone who has been dishonest with them from the start.

But you knew all that when you pressed the heart key on your device, didn’t you?

Over the years, dubious and shady dating sites like those designed for cheaters have been the subject of much debate, heartbreak and even a few heart attacks. The online dating site Ashley Madison’s hacks last year left many families more than a tad “scarlet” and struggling to pick up the pieces. That is just one of many websites out there who encourage people to engage in affairs and hey, it’s a free world..whatever get’s you tru the nite…

But let’s face facts here.. online dating websites, by their very nature, have absolutely NO integrity when it comes to dating –it’s purely a money making cash cow.   “Life is short-have an affair” is a great catchphrase for Ashley Madison  but ours might be “get a life” because at One2One Introductions, we only endorse relationships when both partners want genuine, honest and long-term commitment. That dynamic simply cannot exist when someone is being used or deceived.

And ok, these are nitemare dating scenarios..but they could be easily avoidable by choosing a reputable matchmaking agency. One2One Introductions differentiate ourselves from those dating onliners on the world wide web with two simple, yet vital components: Confidentiality and Discreteness. We actually MEET all potential clients and dates to verify their identities, marital status and readiness to date before you are ever introduced. This is the unique difference that has kept the matchmaking industry alive since before Willie Daly had his beard.. It’s the only tried-and-trusted way to meet someone who has been handpicked just for you….and wants to meet you.

Anyway, regardless of how you choose to meet your date, it is important to engage in safe dating practices. The following tips may help to help protect you during your search for “the one” – at least for those first early dates:

Always meet your date in a neutral, populated place. As far as first dates go then maybe the top of Mount Brandon may not be the most apt place to meet.

Never allow your date to pick you up from your home.

Talk to your date on the phone first and trust your “gut instinct”…remember, if it all sounds too good to be true it more than likely is..bells ring for a reason..!

Date local so you can meet sooner and you’ll feel more comfortable in an area you know well.

Never NEVER – send a date money via online wire transfer.

Using ONE2ONE Introductions is the safest way to find a genuine date because we personally hand select, pre-screen and match accordingly based on years of experience and a wealth of knowledge of what makes real relationships work.  This can be tricky in a world packed with shady online dating profiles and “hookup apps.” Don’t leave your future in the hands of a computer algorithm or a two-dimensional online profile. Allow us to put the human touch back into real dating.

What’s the best that could happen? You may actually meet someone!

Wow! And in real life too!
